You can read my mind but don’t hold your breath ‘Cos the reasons why have been done to death Leavin’ with nowhere else to go I hate to say but I told you so it’s true Another hollow win for you Look at all the mess that you're gonna leave Spread your bitterness like a bad disease Empty with not much else to show I hate to say but I told you so it’s true Another hollow win for you You won the round but you're on your own Not a great place to be I hate to say but I told you so Just another hollow Hollow Victory Look at all the mess that you're gonna leave Spread your bitterness like a bad disease Leavin’ with nowhere else to go I love to say but I told you so it’s true Another hollow win for you For you Hollow win for you Hollow win for you

Fallen saint, winnowed lines Summer days say goodbye – bye On my way, back from wrong Turn around, now you’re gone – gone, gone, gone Taking it all for granted Leaving it all behind Maybe it’s just a blessing in disguise Something worth understanding More than what meets the eye I should have known nothing would turn out Nothing would turn out Vacant smile, empty face Hang my head in disgrace – hey Four degrees short of true Bitter taste left by you – you Taking it all for granted Leaving it all behind Maybe it’s just a blessing in disguise Something worth understanding More than what meets the eye I should have known nothing would turn out Fallen saint, winnowed lines Summer days say goodbye Taking it all for granted Leaving it all behind Maybe it’s just a blessing in disguise Something worth understanding More than what meets the eye I should have known

about

The quest for the perfect song continues with the Outryders 3rd single. The Outryders’ Joe Algeri (Jangle Band, The JAC, Britannicas, Summer Suns) and Paul Colombini (Roadstar, Fuzzswirl, Cherrytones) play a brand of guitar based Oz pop loved the world over. Here Joe and Paul are once again joined by the solid rhythm section of Herb Eimerman (USA - the Britannicas, Nerk Twins) and Mark 'Sid' Eaton (Jangle Band, The JAC, City Views).

The effervescent "Hollow Victory" commences with a riff that could have been straight from the Sunnyboys songbook and keeps climbing to the finish line with chiming glockenspiel and shimmering tambourines. The slightly more sombre "Should Have Known" provides all the sugar and spice you need in 3 minutes flat like any good song should.

Also available on limited edition CD single.

There was a time when you couldn’t go a whole weekend without stumbling across Joe Algeri playing his shiny brand of pop at the original music watering holes. He is now taking that work ethic to his home studio and releasing a swag of tunes via a handful of different outfits.

The schoolyard chums of Algeri and Paul Colombini clearly avoided the lure of the convoy of Monaro’s and the Kalamunda Hotel during their upbringing in the hills as they bonded over a the Sunnyboys and a crisp sounding six string. Hollow Victory is the third single for The Outryders recording project and kicks off with a snappy riff and well tuned harmonies from the get-go. A tidy hook, enthusiastic handclaps and just the right amount of glockenspiel is spread atop the tight rhythm section.

The Colombini penned Should Have Known has more grunt and is a chugging beast that tells a more sombre tale than its predecessor. Algeri’s vocals are clear and impassioned, showing his studious appreciation of some of the great melody makers from Gene Clark to Andy Sturmer.

The Outryders have again given a couple of tunes that are sure to stay in your melodic cortex well past their duration. They do singles well. It must be time for a long player sometime soon.

It’s all about a love for Power Pop Rock N Roll and Western Australia’s The Outryders demonstrate this with a new double single!

Consisting of Joe Algeri and Paul Colombini, The Outryders is a recording project focused on power pop, jangle pop and rock ‘n’ roll.

This lofi double single will appeal to fans of 90s rock bands who channelled edgy melodic 60s pop e.g. Teenage Fanclub, Dinosaur Jr. and Velvet Crush.
