1.
Whirly Bird 02:53
Hey you won't you come along with me The future's so bright that I can't see How this could be any other way. All week long I've been thinking of you Press my shirt, spit and polish my shoes It's Friday night, let's have a drink or two or more. Are you ready for dancin' and romancin'? Come on baby won't you take a chance with me? And it's the sweetest thing I've heard Won't you be, won't you be my whirly bird. I hate this job but I need the bread When I see you I'm gonna lose my head I'm gonna clean out these pockets and you can fix the hole in my heart. The minutes feel like days Until I see you walk my way Tick tock tick tock my heart goes stop.
2.
I miss you like a hangover You paid me all the time I was cruising around with no lights on I never made you mine I never made you mine I needed one more drink I never made you mine Please let me take your home Now I could barely stand With my feet stuck to the floor I asked you for the time too many times I could take no more I never made you mine I had to run outside to throw up I never made you mine Please let me back inside You’re still around but you’re gone, You’re still around If walls could tell a story I’d go back there some day To find out just what went on To see where I went wrong I never made you mine I never made the call I never made you mine Please let me back in time God I miss you

about

For the last 18 years Jack & the Beanstalk has been a band trying to get laid and score free drinks. Along the way they have recorded a couple tunes and played a few dodgy shows.

The Whirly Bird single is small pause in an otherwise long hiatus of the band members getting married, finally getting laid, rearing babies and attempting to grow up.

Both songs have their origins in tracks Joe wrote for the never completed third album, “West Coast Soul”, written during his time in Sweden in the early 2000s. An album mostly about Perth, Western Australia in the 1960s and 70s, it may yet finally get completed for release in 2014.
